I adopted a cat from them a while back. I was going to a different vet but I decided to keep the new cat going to Sylvania Vet because they knew her extensive background. I didn't keep her going there long. Every time we went just for something simple it was at least a 90 minute to 2 hour wait. They put you in a room, leave you for 30 minutes, tech comes in to talk to you, leaves you for 30 more minutes, doc comes in & talks then says she's going to get you some meds...then you wait another 30 minutes. Then you get to go to check out & you get an attitude. I have never saw more rude people than the ones that work at the desk. They all have an attitude.
They always give my dogs the most thorough care. I have gone there for years! They are all great, but I and my pups really love Dr. Jen Tate!
Amazing people. I utilize their daycare 1-2 times per week just to get my pup some playtime with other dogs. The girls that work there are so nice to my pup. Although I wish they had a webcam. Other daycares offer this and I think would be a nice amenity to have.
Ps: i have pictures of the prescribed med with dosage to prove to anyone that this cat WAS overdosed. She should have been tested with a 1/4 of what was given for her body weight and history of sensitivity. Keep in mind this med was pushed on me and not necessary for the cat
at this point im really not feeling this place. the last straw was going into the practice to get some flea meds and long story short i was turned down unless i bought a ton of them at once. I asked to speak with the practice manager because i had other concerns as well, and was flat up told no. the office women was very rude and straight up refused to go get the practice manager or a vet, even though i asked her in a calm manner. After a while she agreed since i said i wasnt leaving. Practice manager wasnt much better. I told her all of my concerns like i have here and i got a condescending lecture about how "pet care is expensive" because i told her i didnt want to basically buy more meds that i needed. That really rubbed me the wrong way since i just charged a ton of money on my care credit to treat my cat, and was going to get my other cat a dental before they screwed up her meds. Those things are not cheap.
They also nickel and dime you for EVERY little thing. I had a different cat hospitalized there over the weekend. They charge for things every day that are not changed daily, like the IV set. The IV pump is also another charge...I paid enough for pump rental that I probably own the dang thing. That should be included in the "hospitalization" fee. It was close to $1000 for 2 days of care. RIP OFF!!!
so basically this place is expensive, wont listen to your input and dosnt care about your concerns. They dont have any purebred cat experience and the front desk staff is rude. its been several weeks and i haven't heard a think from them, so i guess they dont care. my cats that are like my kids whom i will spend my last dollar on to get care, but that dosnt mean ill throw my money away for crappy service. They would not give me any discounts for bringing in more than one cat, and charge you an exam fee every single time you come in, even if its for the SAME PROBLEM! no discounts for rescue cats that i care for, nothing. Its all about the money. too many vets in the area to stay here and be treated like that. Bye Felicia.
We have two Boxer's that are like our children. We have had to take our older one in several times and Sylvania Vet has been AMAZING to her. She has had surgery twice and we could not be more pleased with the care and concern they provided. They are not only compassionate to animals but to their owners. I won't take my animals anywhere else.
then my other cat, an Oriental, fell sick. I decided to take her into Sylviana for bloodwork. I spent a small fortune on every last test imaginable, including ones they send away for. For those who dont know the breed, they are very long and thin cats naturally. The vet seemed to think that he, a vet, knew more about MY breed that i did. He told me he thought the cat was too thin (she wasnt. at all.) Orientals are not like regular cats, that they are like greyhounds, very minimal bodyfat. No, he insisted that even though he never saw an Oriental in person ever before, and was not at ALL familiar with my breed, that i was wrong and she was underweight. um ok.
I gave her a test dosage that night and it was awful. she was stoned at first, falling over. she jumped to the table and fell flat on her back. about two hours in she started shaking, head twitching and falling over. it was so upsetting to watch and even now its sad. Well the vet wasnt very concerned that he just overdosed her. He had give her 100mg Gabapentin for a little 7 pound cat with little bodyfat. thats way to much, and this was AFTER i told them 10 times that shes med sensitive. careless mistake. I felt like i wasnt being listened to so i canceled her dental. why would i want these people putting my cat under for surgery when they DONT even hear me when i tell them that she needs small dosages? I was told that this med would just make her "a little sleepy" yeah right ok.
I had really high hopes for this place. They seem like the best, state of the art facility. I wanted to get my older cat a dental, which is very expensive and requires the cat to be put under for it. The doctor seemed to think she needed meds to come in so he prescribed her a med to "calm her down" when she came in.
