I would like to knowledge two of the nursing staff. Barb was my daytime nurse and provided excellent care of physically, and mentally . Barb always had a smile and made sure I had beverages and everything was OK for me. I'd like to have knowledge my night nurse his name is Will. He was big guy to was gentle and always had a smile. Prior to nursing he was a paramedic in the army. Will would come in in the middle of the night and hopefully up to my IVs and he never woke me up. In the morning I would ask him if he gave me my two IVs, and yes and you slept right through it.
In closing I want to say my experience at Regency and Toledo was excellent.
After visiting the other ltac in the area and reading the reviews I was very hesitant on bringing my mother here. But decided to tour. I was greeted by not only the admissions coordinator but also the CEO. The grounds were nice, the area is desirable and safe, and the facility itself was clean. No visible dust or trash and no nursing home smell. I was very satisfied after getting the tour and feel very comfortable we made the right decision on sending my mother there for treatment.
The local Doctors refers to this place as the death hospital. They will promise you a private room you will never get. Complaints left to CEO Gary Zaciewsk were unaddressed. He called me but never followed up . When you push the call button they will come in a reset it and say I will be right back. That is to keep their response time down in the computer system. They never return. When my mom was put on a bed pan and would call to have it removed they would reset the call and never return. She finally started pulling it out and dropping it on the floor. This made the staff very angry and started to mistreat and neglect her. Staff is very defensive. Mom developed sores on her butt because they did not apply any cream. Mom couldn't get out of bed on her own but was found in a chair during a late night visit, she said physical therapy put her in a chair and forgot about her. They were to test for a UTI and because it was the weekend they would sent the labs out. When asked about the test results they said it was negative. THEY LIED! Came to find out 2 days later the labs were never drawn, never sent out and had to be retaken. All this time she was in pain. While looking for a new place to take my mom we had to hired a personal assistant or baby sitter to keep an eye on not her but the the staff just to make sure would do there job. They would not do things they said they would. They would lie about things. the list goes on and on. Please do not take your loved ones here.
Now let's talk about the care you receive the medical staff. Depending on your needs doctors make rounds and check on your care. At one point they Came in , doctor after doctor after doctor, it was a little confusing, however I figured it out. My hat goes off of the physical therapy team. The teams goal is to prepare you to go home. I have seen them bring patients down to the therapy room, and the patients do not want To do the things they are requested to do. I don't know how they do it , They usually talk to patient into participating. I want to point out one tough cookie and rehab. Her name is Mary, I really love her. She looks out for your safety that only while you're in rehab but down in your room. Let me make sure I acknowledge the respiratory department.. I did not know I have a sleep disorder. Every night they would tuck me in bed. During the night they would come in and check on my breathing machine. I am now to the point where I'm used to it and sleep through the night.
Everytime I visited my Mom her room and this place was clean. The staff and nurses were better than some of the local hospitals my mother had been at. After my Mom spent 3 weeks at Regency my overall opinion of Regency is good even after I saw some of the other post listed here.
Know let's talk about the food. The chefs name is Bob. If you have problems with the food in me to talk to him. He will do what is ever possible to make sure you are satisfied with the food. The menu over lots of choices. The soups are made in the kitchen every day. If you like tuna or chicken salad I think it's great.
I am a travel nurse at this facility, and it is by far the best place I've ever been. The staff is compassionate and friendly, and very much advocate for their patients. The management cares about the staff and addresses their concerns quickly. The facility values teamwork and it shows in the care the patients receive. The physicians are responsive and very easy to talk to. Ive heard from multiple patients that they feel their loved ones are being treated like family by the staff. I drive 3 hours to get here and I couldn't have asked for a better assignment.
I gave regency of Toledo five stars because they are committed to quality patient care. I believe that sometimes hospital patients don't understand why there could be a delay in getting to their bedside for bringing them something they have requested. It's very simple there are only so many staff and when you want them they could be in the middle of rendering service to another patient. People need to relax and go with the flow . Just the other night I had a long wait. When they came in they apologized for the delay. Do you see someone in the room next to me had a Code and a majority of the staff responded.
